Tortosa

Tortosa is an old roman town which lies on the northern bank of the river Ebro. It is worth visiting its cathedral and parador as well as wandering through the pedestrial ways and covered food market. The river bank has a long promenade which leads past a park. There are plenty of bars and quite a number of excellent restaurants

The Parador

The Parador sites at the top of the hill which commands views of the river. The old cannon emplacements demonstrate its strategic importance when it fulfilled its role as the towns castle.

The Food Market

The covered food market earns a place close to my heart. Permanent fishmongers and butchers stalls fill the large building with greengrocers, bakers, bars and coffee shops making sure that every cooking need is supplied.
